My cousin, Tony, dropped off some P.N.W. Foodies swag yesterday. P.N.W. Foodies is a Facebook group of which Tony is the founder, and of which Dorothy and I are founding members.
He also brought some things from his family’s home garden. A variety of hot peppers, including Thai chili peppers, and three bunches of herbs; rosemary, basil, and thyme, half of which made it into the photograph.
The rosemary has already been earmarked by Dorothy for focaccia, and I’m all for that. The basil will definitely make it onto a pizza or into a pasta dish. As for the third one, only thyme will tell.
Fret not. Tony left with three of Dorothy’s chocolate chip cookies.
This afternoon, dad dropped off a bunch of tomatoes, three jalapeños, and a habanero pepper from his and mom’s garden.
On the left is a San Marzano tomato, grown in the shadow of Mount Rainier. On the right is a Roma tomato, grown in the same shadow. Apparently, the habanero grew in both of their shadows.
Love the colorful bounty!
lol @ the habanero!
