Dorothy recently made pretzel rolls for use as hamburger buns. The color, taste, and texture were perfect. She used a pretzel roll recipe, not a hamburger bun-specific recipe, which she followed to the letter and remembered too late to flatten them into more of a hamburger bun shape.
They worked well as hamburger buns and were great for me, as they actually held together in my stroke-affected left hand. I usually make it only halfway through the burger before my clumsy grasp eventually causes the bun to break apart like Pangea.
When that finally happens, I normally let the burger fall to my plate and finish it piece by piece, either by hand or with a fork. These pretzel rolls were even scored, the weaknesses were baked right in, and they held together perfectly.
I noticed that these rolls were roughly the same size as the tomatoes that we recently received from my folks. I envisioned, and made, the following for lunch today. Stuffed with pretzel crumbs and Parmesan.
